Cavitation

The Lecture

Cavitation is the local evaporation of a fluid caused by a drop of the static pressure below a critical pressure. This lecture covers the physical causes of this phenomenon and its manifestations in engineering application. Positive and negative effects of cavitation on hydraulic systems are also highlighted.
