The Chair of Fluid Systems showed strong presence at the NFDI4Ing conference 2022. The conference motto was “Unifying the Understanding of RDM in Engineering Science”, took place on October 26 and 27 and was hosted by WZL of the RWTH Aachen University.

In our latest paper “Dynamic force and moment characteristics of annular gaps – Simulation results and evaluation of the relevance of the tilt and moment coefficients” published in the Journal of Tribology, Dr. Maximilian Kuhr, Prof. Rainer Nordmann and Prof. Peter Pelz discuss the dynamic properties of annular gaps.

As a consequence of the climate crisis, water scarcity is an increasingly pressing issue. One of the biggest challenges that water distribution networks face in this regard is preventing drinking water loss and decreasing the energy necessary for distributing the water in the network.

Wie gut kann die Trinkwasserversorgung darauf reagieren, wenn sich große Teile der städtischen Bevölkerung aufgrund kritischer Ereignisse innerhalb der Stadt umverteilen? Wie beeinflussen sich technisches und soziales System gegenseitig und kann das technische System seine Funktion auch bei Störungen erfüllen? Dieser Frage widmete sich eine Studie, die von Forschenden des Instituts für Fluidsystemtechnik gemeinsam mit dem Institut für Geschichte durchgeführt wurde.

Im Juni 2022 hat Herr Dr.-Ing. Tim Müller seine Doktorarbeit erfolgreich verteidigt.
